Had my first panel review today, with Meena, Swati, Sanjay.
Create a timeline detailing exactly what you need to do.
Define the sections of your publication.
Can you really define the consumer? It is not easy to define the buying community- people are buying Kancheepuram silks today, for instance, to use as curtains and tablecloths in the West.
China is producing Kanchipuram silks.
Geographical Indicators- Champagne, Scotch Whiskey, etc. has to be manufactured in a certain geographical location. What is the legal aspect of defining something as a Kancheepuram Silk?
Subverting the message- Is your final output a coffee table book? Could you create a publication that works on two levels- has the appearance of a coffee table book, but which differs from a typical one in its content. Can you subvert your message within the publication?
What is your aim? Is it informational, for instance. (Activism and analysis.)
Define your audience and product
Create a plan A to fulfill the criteria and a plan B to add on to it, make it more extensive.
Think about smaller awareness initiatives that you could design in addition to the book-
Posters, packaging, etc.
Think about the audience- they can choose to be affected by the message you are trying to give out, but they may also be attracted to the visuals and choose to take it all in at face value.
Dr. Arti Kalra's Study- Padmasalya Community, Weaving and worship-, 'body' metaphor.
